The Art & Science of Data Visualization
The Art & Science of Data Visualization workshopIt is common for us to start our data visualization journey by learning rules - When should we use a bar chart instead of pie chart? How many colors are acceptable? Do we always have to start our y-axis at zero? The fact is, it takes more than just visual grammar to create good charts. Join us to learn the keys of effective visual communication and the steps we can follow to achieve it.
When: 7 November, Saturday 14:30 - 16:00
Where: Online (link will be sent closer to event date)
Who should join?Anyone interested in learning about practical steps to create effective charts as a form of communication.
What do I need?We aim to share about data visualization in a tool-agnostic way where participants can apply what they have learned using any data visualization tool of their choice. However, for the purpose of the hands-on session, we will be using Tableau. Participants are required to complete the actions below prior to the event to be able to follow along with the presenter:
- Download and install the freely available Tableau Public here
- Download the 2 required datasets from UCI Machine Learning Repository:
14:35 The Art & Science of Data Visualization talk
15:30 Hands-on Workshop with Tableau
